Kiran Karnik is a prominent Indian administrator chiefly known for his work in the broadcasting and outsourcing industries. Presently he is also serving as a Director in Central board of directors of Reserve Bank of India. He is also the chairman, board of directors, of the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi (IIIT-D).
Karnik joined the Indian Space Research Organisation shortly after it was set up in 1969 and spent nearly 20 years in the organisation. He was part of the team that conceptualised the Satellite Instructional Television Experiment which won wide national and international acclaim, including the first UNESCO-IPDC Prize for rural Communication. Mr. Karnik was Director of the ISRO’s Development and Educational Communicational Unit from 1983 to 1991. Mr. Karnik left the ISRO and joined the Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC) as its first Director in 1991. In 1995, Mr. Karnik joined Discovery Networks as its managing director in India and oversaw the launch of Discovery Channel in South Asia in August 1995 followed by Animal Planet in 1999.
Kiran Karnik took up the position of President of NASSCOM in September 2001, after the sudden demise of its founder Dewang Mehta. He made the organisation into the preeminent association for the outsourcing industry and a prominent lobbying group for the concerns of the industry abroad.
Subsequently, he was nominated by the government as Chairman of Satyam Computer Services heading a three-member board after the Government of India disbanded the Satyam board owing to severe irregularities and fraud in accounting.
He has been a member of many government committees, including the Prasar Bharati Review Committee, and is currently a member of the Scientific Advisory Council to the Prime Minister and the National Innovation Council.
He is currently the Chairman of the National Committee on Telecom & Broadband at the Confederation of Indian Industry.
He is currently the Chairman of the ‘Board of Governors’ and member of the ‘General Council’ of the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi.
He is also the Chairman of the Governing Body of HelpAge India, the leading non-profit organisation working for the Elderly across India.
Awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award by the Government of India in 2007. Selected as ‘Face of the Year’ by Forbes magazine in 2003.
Awarded the Franck J. Malina Astronautics Medal for Space Education by the International Astronautical Federation in 1998.
Karnik has authored/edited a large number of publications, and lectures occasionally at major national institutes. He is the author of The Coalition of Competitors: The Story of Nasscom and the IT Industry[Harper Collins, 2012]. He is a regular columnist with national newspapers, including the Economic Times.
Mr. Kasbekar is the Executive Director Operations (Plants) in Hero MotoCorp & is responsible for Operations function which is catering to the domestic, exports & after sales market demand.
Mr. Kasbekar brings more than 4 decades of experience in the field of Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Project Engineering. He has been with Hero for close to 14 years in two stints and has contributed significantly to the growth of the organisation. In the Auto Industry, he has worked in commercial vehicles, Auto ancillary & two wheelers sectors. A stint at Birla Copper as ‘Business Head’ gave him exposure to the copper business & during this period the Mitsubishi and auto component smelter technology was stabilised & the business was turned profitable.
He is actively associated as member of CII northern region council.
Mr. Kasbekar was born and brought-up in Indore (M.P.) and educated in Daly College (Public School), Indore which gave him an all-round exposure to academic, sports, culture and literary activities. He then graduated from IIT, Madras in Mechanical Engineering stream in the batch of 1976.
Mr. R Sivanesan is B Tech graduate from the Madras Institute of Technology and has been trained in Global Leadership at IIM Lucknow.
Under his leadership, Ashok Leyland is implementing TQM practices across the Organization. Ashok Leyland’s Pantnagar / Hosur-2 Plants won the prestigious Deming prize, the first commercial vehicle manufacturer outside Japan to do so.
In April 2016, he took over the additional responsibility of the Sourcing and Supply Chain function.
He received the ‘Quality Leadership Award’ from the World Quality Congress in 2012 and is an ex-National President of National Institution for Quality & Reliability.
He was awarded the Best Procurement Head in CV category at World Auto Forum 2017.

An outstanding academic, Prof. Prem Vrat, is the Pro-Chancellor; Professor of Eminence and Chief Mentor at The NorthCap University, Gurugram (formerly ITM University, Gurugram). Just prior to joining ITMU as the Vice-Chancellor, in September 2011, he was Professor of Eminence at the Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurugram. Prof. Prem Vrat was an Honorary Research Fellow at the Department of Engineering Production, University of Birmingham (U.K.) and as an International Visiting Fellow at University of Western Sydney, Australia. He has extensive experience of more than 50 years in teaching, research, management development and consultancy.
He has guided 43 PhD theses, 118 M.Tech and 65 B.Tech major projects on Industrial Application of Systems Approach and Management Science. He has published more than 475 research papers in reputed journals and proceedings of international and national conferences. His research papers have received more than 6330 citations with g-index of 78 and maximum citation of a paper as 1125 (as per google scholar). He has authored/co-authored seven books and completed five sponsored projects and 34 consultancy assignments. Recipient of multiple awards and recognitions, Professor Vrat was conferred Doctor of Engineering (Honoris Causa) by Bundelkhand University; Distinguished Alumnus Award by IIT Kharagpur; Distinguished Service Award by IIT Delhi; Outstanding Contribution Award for National Development by IIT Delhi Alumni Association; Uttaranchal Ratan Award, Lillian Gilbreth Award; 14 Best Paper medals and prizes. Prof. Prem Vrat was honored with the National Systems Gold Medal by the Systems Society of India (SSI), the highest award conferred by the Society on distinguished scientists and Honorary Member of IIIE, the highest recognition by IIIE. SAE India Foundation bestowed on him the ‘Guru’ Award for his outstanding contributions. He was conferred the ‘Life Time Achievement Award’ at the 18th Annual International Conference of the Society of Operations Management at IIT Roorkee in December 2014. He received Dr. M.C Puri Memorial Award of ORSI for his outstanding contribution for promotion of Operational Research in India. Professor R. Jayaraman has served the Indian industry for over 30 years in various capacities. Amongst the many positions he held were Chief of Business Excellence, Tata Steel, VP of Global Quality at Tata Communications, Sr VP (Technology Operations) and Chief Safety Officer of Tata Teleservices. During his years in industry, Prof Jayaraman has been involved in pioneering work in world class quality, business excellence, project management and operations strategy. Educated at some of the best institutions in India and abroad, he became a full time professor at SPJIMR in 2011.
